The IMF keeps track of the economic health of its member countries, alerts them to risks on the horizon, lends to countries in difficulty, provides policy advice and technical training to help countries improve economic management. This work is backed by the research of IMF staff which is available to the public via IMF publications and databases. The IMF eLibrary provides free and direct access to the IMF’s comprehensive collection of more than 22,000 publications, in addition to data and statistical tools.
